In-Custody Death - March 20, 2023

On March 20, 2023, 47-year-old Todd Whited from Stoystown, PA who was housed at the Central Men’s Jail, Mod A-Tank 5 died at OC Global Medical Center. At the time, Whited was awaiting arraignment. In-Custody Death - April 13, 2023

On Thursday, April 13, 2023, 37-year-old Brian Schaar from Los Angeles, CA who was housed at the Intake Release Center in Module L died at Orange County Global Medical Center, Santa Ana. In-Custody Death – March 3, 2023

On March 3, 2023, 33-year-old Ryan Barnette from Garden Grove, CA who was housed at the Intake Release Center in Holding Cell PM9 died at OC Global Medical Center. At the time, Barnette was awaiting arraignment. 17-123 Use of Force

In October of 2017, deputies were involved in a use of force at the Central Men's Jail in Santa Ana.  The use of force was determined to be outside of policy with policy violations addressed and discipline issued.

In September of 2020, deputies were involved in an officer involved shooting in the city of Stanton.  The case was investigated by the Orange County District Attorney's Office and no criminal charges were filed.  The officer involved shooting was determined to be within policy.
