Captain Emad Mitry serves as the Chief of Police Services for South Patrol.
South Patrol provides law enforcement services to the 80,000 residents of the South County unincorporated areas of Coto De Caza, Ladera Ranch, Las Flores, Wagon Wheel, Rancho Mission Viejo and the rural neighborhoods located in the Rose, Santiago and Trabuco Canyons, as well as the residences along the Ortega Highway. South Patrol is staffed with four Sergeants, twenty-four Deputy Sheriff’s, one School Resource Officer (SRO) and two Criminal Investigators.
The unincorporated South County communities are diverse in nature and require special enforcement considerations. Four-wheel drive patrol vehicles and ATV units are utilized in the rugged canyon areas along with bicycle patrol and Mounted Enforcement Units being deployed as necessary. One K-9 unit is also assigned to the South Patrol Bureau for service throughout the South County region.
The Southeast Operations Captain also manages Southeast Division Investigations, the South Directed Enforcement Team (DET), Juveniles Services Bureau (JSB), School Mobil Assessment and Resource Team (SMART) and the Southeast Homeless Outreach Team (HOT).
