Aliso Viejo

Captain Alan Villanueva serves as the Chief of Police Services for the city of Aliso Viejo.

Aliso Viejo contracts with the Sheriff’s Department for all law enforcement needs. Captain Merrill oversees three sergeants, 18 patrol deputies, two deputies assigned to the city’s Special Enforcement Team, one and one half investigator positions, two community services officers, one crime prevention specialist, one half of one emergency management program coordinator, and the volunteer services team called Police Assistance Liaison Services.
 
Community programs offered by Aliso Viejo Police Services include child safety, Neighborhood Watch, a planned Business Watch, other crime prevention services, homeless liaison services, Emergency Preparedness and community events. Aliso Viejo Police Services is dedicated to providing responsive, professional and caring law enforcement to all citizens. Although Aliso Viejo has been known as a safe city, in 2013 Aliso Viejo was named the 4th safest city in California by SafeWise, a security system company.
