- Radio Dispatcher Trainee: $ 26.68 - $35.97 hourly/ $55,494.40-$74,817.60 annually
- Radio Dispatcher: $32.25-$43.48 hourly/ $67,080.00-$90,438.4 annually
The Position
Radio Dispatchers and 911 Call takers handle more than half a million phone calls from the community we serve every year, which includes 13 contract cities and the county’s unincorporated areas.
They are responsible for monitoring channels to dispatch patrol calls for service, obtaining resources and maintaining asset accountability. Dispatchers also provide radio coordination for specialty details including SWAT, the Aviation Support Bureau, Hazardous Devices Section, K9s, and Search and Rescue.
Examples of Duties
- Responsible for receiving and processing 911 calls for emergency police, fire, and/or medical service needs, 24-hour 7/ day per week.
- Dispatching calls for service, maintaining two-way radio communications with patrol deputies and investigative personnel and coordinating radio communications with allied agencies both within and outside Orange County.
