On Oct. 30, 1984, 25-year-old Darrell Attardo and 20-year-old Stephanie Anderson were found deceased in a small home on 9th street in Sunset Beach by Sheriff’s Department investigators.
The victims had each been stabbed multiple times and were restrained in one of the bedrooms of the house. Their home had been ransacked by the unknown intruders. Investigators found the drawers were pulled out and a safe was ripped from the closet.
It was alleged that Attardo was involved in illegal drug activity. There is no evidence of Anderson being involved in Attardo’s business. She may have been a victim of circumstance.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department investigators kept open minds when pursuing any leads, but the case has remained cold. The investigators are still hoping to find new information about the murders of Darrell Attardo and Stephanie Anderson.
