In-Custody Death - April 13, 2023

On Thursday, April 13, 2023, 37-year-old Brian Schaar from Los Angeles, CA who was housed at the Intake Release Center in Module L died at Orange County Global Medical Center, Santa Ana. At the time, Schaar was awaiting trial. At the conclusion of the Orange County District Attorney’s independent investigation, Schaar's manner of death was determined to be natural, and his cause of death was identified as dilated cardiomyopathy.
